As part of an accelerator initiative at Affirm in late 2020, I led design for a new standalone app that let users retroactively convert past purchases into payment plans. Working in a lean, high-trust team with a product manager, engineer, and strategy lead, I helped define the product’s core functionality and user experience—from early concept definition through multiple rounds of iteration, user interviews, and final UI and content design. We collaborated closely with company leadership, including regular reviews with the CEO, to secure buy-in and continued investment.
The product allowed users to connect their bank account, select eligible transactions, and receive funds upfront in exchange for paying Affirm back over time, interest-free. While originally scoped as an experimental bet, the core functionality we developed later informed a key feature in Affirm’s flagship direct-to-consumer product, the Affirm Card.
